ActRaiser (Arcade) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A complete playthrough of Nintendo's 1991 Nintendo Super System (NSS) arcade game, ActRaiser.

The NSS was essentially a Super NES crammed into an arcade cabinet, typically giving players the choice of playing one of three installed games. Like the Playchoice 10, it charged by time played instead of the traditional lives system.

ActRaiser was a SNES game that originally launched in Japan in 1990, and was released in the US the following year with a load of alterations. This arcade version was like a hybrid version of the American and the Japanese versions, but it cuts the simulation mode out completely (like playing the regular game in Pro mode). It's a great game, made even better because it's far harder than the (relatively) easy SNES console version.

Even if it were without any other redeeming qualities, the soundtrack is absolutely stellar. I mean, it's Yuzo Koshiro. On the SNES. Fantasy RPG style. It is amazing as it sounds.
