The construction of the 1st phase of the line was completed in 2012 and 16 stations were commissioned in 21, 7 km section between Kadikoy and Kartal. With the construction of Yakacik-Adnan Kahveci, Pendik and Tavsantepe stations, the 2nd phase of the line was also completed and line length extended up to 26, 5 km and the number of stations reached up to 19.

The line starts from Kadikoy and moves along D100 route in Acibadem region, following this route up to Tavsantepe. There is a 52-car (13 trains) depot and a 32-car maintenance workshop at Maltepe Station region between Maltepe and Huzurevi stations. The entire line was built under the ground including the depot and workshop areas.

Station Structures
Tunnels of the line were built with TBM method between Kadikoy - Kozyatagi and Kartal – Kaynarca, whilst NATM method was used between Kozyatagi - Kartal. An additional track line and two platforms are made available at Bostanci Station considering alternative operation needs. The stations are 180 meters long and are suitable for 8-car train operation. The line contains 335 escalators, 18 travellator and 97 elevators and there are 399 turnstiles where 51 of them are designed to serve people with disabilities.

System Safety and Security
Several scenarios are already developed against any possible inconvenience at M4 Kadikoy - Sabiha Gokcen Airport Metro Line, with solution plans for each scenario using simulations. The line is under constant supervision and monitoring through 1281 CCTV cameras situated at all locations inside the stations. Furthermore, uniformed security officers are on duty, performing constant checks.

Signalisation of the line and the depot area has a Movement Block system featuring continuous communication. The signalisation system is Thales CBTC which allows trains to park without drivers.

All the equipment used were selected from ultra-heat-resistant materials that do not release any toxic gases. The metro integrates a reliable smoke-control system and a fully-automatic evacuation system compliant primarily with NFPA standards that are proven to safely evacuate people in case of fire.

In Kadikoy – Sabiha Gokcen Airport Metro Line, the power of the entire system is fed through three different terminals. In case of failure in all of the three terminals, generators on two opposite sides start within 15 seconds to allow all trains stuck inside the tunnel to reach the nearest station and evacuate the passengers. In case of a power cut or generator failure, lighting and electronic control systems are automatically fed by uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for a period of 3 hours.
