Three Points to Consider to Create a Life of Wise Choices
1. Build a Community The people you hang out with will have a big influence in your life. We all have heard the saying, “Show me your friends, and I’ll show you your future.” It is absolutely true to the very words. Your close friends, your family, and the colleagues you hang out with daily and communicate with on a regular basis will set your future trajectory. To a certain extent, they have power over your thoughts and hence are a big influence on the choices you make.
Being with people who do not see your vision, and don’t recognize or appreciate your work, will only put you down. Their ignorance of the subject will make them mock you and your purpose. It could damage your confidence, and you could end up making foolish choices that will destroy your purpose. Finding the right people and building your tribe is a necessity when you decide to succeed in life. Networking with people who have similar thoughts and goals in life will have a positive effect on your life. Your thoughts will start to take the direction of a growth mindset. Your friends will become good influences and supporters of your mission.
They will also show you alternate paths you might have missed and will also give constructive criticism when necessary. Your choices will be a result of your thoughts, experiences with people who have the same life vision as you, and the lessons you learn from their experiences too. Building a community of people who resonate with you is a necessity for a successful life.
2. Build Good Habits That Complement Your Purpose Habits are the acts we perform in our daily lives without putting much effort into thinking about them. It’s things like brushing your teeth every morning, journaling, making coffee the first thing in the morning, and taking a shower before bed every night. The power of habits is immense.
They help reduce the energy used for making decisions on daily tasks. We save a lot of energy and time when small daily choices can be turned into habits. Some people eat the same breakfast every weekday, wear the same type of clothes on all days, own only one coffee mug, buy their groceries on the same day and time every week, and organize their desks every day before leaving the office.
These habits make life more organized. Creating such habits organizes our lives and leads to good mental health. Such habits reduce the number of decisions we need to make every single day. Hence, opening up space to make important decisions. Habits are good daily life choices that ease our life.
3. Design Your Environment to Suit Your Purpose Like building a community to support you is necessary, so is creating an environment that will positively influence your purpose in life. If the space you work in every day is a chaotic mess, it will negatively influence the choices you make and hence result in poor productivity.
Our environment influences what we create and put out into the world. Staying in an environment that is the stark opposite of what you stand for will suppress your victor energy. Continuing to live in an environment built on things and people that don’t support your goals, will put you in a state of bad mental health. It will lead you to make poor choices that can ruin your chance of succeeding in life. Get out of there. Move to a peaceful corner of your house, leave the office or company that drains you, and move to a different city or even a different country if it fuels your mission.
The goal is to reduce as much friction between your goals and your environment so that the choices you make are purely for what your purpose is. But sometimes, choosing can seem like an impossible task! How do we decide which choice will be right for our dreams? How do you make those choices? That’s okay! It’s not a sign that you’re a bad person or that you’ll never be able to make the right choice. It means that you’re human and that everyone else is too.
Everyone has doubts and fears about things they don’t understand yet - and it’s okay to be afraid of something, even when it’s something good for you! The braver we choose to be, the more freedom we have in our lives, and the less constricting our world becomes.
Well, first of all, you need to believe that they’re possible and worth pursuing. But more than that, you have to be open to learning new things and making mistakes so that you can grow.
