Be very careful when deciding to use IPR to correct bimaxillary protrusion. The amount of IPR needed for this can be quite substantial, and it comes with two significant costs for the patient. First, it can lead to a poor height-to-width ratio of the teeth, resulting in an unattractive appearance. Additionally, it can cause periodontal issues. You know that IPR requires the roots to move closer together. If the roots come too close, with less than a millimeter and a half of space between them, it can lead to bone crest resorption. Not to mention, poorly executed IPR can create ledges that may result in cavities. Therefore, there’s a better way to approach this, but be very careful. Everything should be based on a solid diagnosis.
