WEEKEND TRIP to the MOUNTAIN VIEW of SIBULAN

It's not easy to get to where we want to go this weekend. We want to enjoy the view with good friends from the mountains through the valley to the plain of Bais City and Dewey Island, which is located in the municipality of Sibulan. We drive from Dauin on the new bypass road to Sibulan and from there on the coastal road via San Jose, Amlan, Tanjay City, Bais City and from there into the mountains to Pamplona. In Tanjay City, we buy some food at the market. There would be a way to get there via Valencia, but this connection is too unsafe and in some places could only be passable for motorcycles or not at all. We don't want to take the risk.

We reach our destination, Ella & Malvin's weekend home, around midday. The ladies prepare lunch and I explore the grounds with my camera. By mid-afternoon, the first ice-cold beer is in our hands, prompting us to drink it down. As the evening draws in, the party gets more and more fun, with drinks and singing into the small hours.

The lights of Bais City shine in the distance. After waking up one by one in the late morning and sipping their coffee, everyone wants to go down to the river to enjoy a dip in the cool water with a picnic.

We then set off home a little earlier and take an old woman and her grandchildren with us on the kilometer-long uphill walk home to their house by the road.

It was a wonderful weekend for us all.
