We wanted to have a solid color for the handrail which meant we needed to use a water based product, so I used Minwax water based stain and polycrylic and had great results. If you're thinking of doing this at your house it was pretty easy.

Getting really close now to having a functional and usable basement! This video covers me finishing up the stairway area.
