Keep in mind that a wired doorbell is always lit up while a wireless doorbell only lights up when you press the button. This calls for determining whether you have a wired or wireless doorbell. The difference between the two is a wired doorbell is always lit up while a wireless doorbell only lights up when you press the button. No wired doorbell? No problem. You can have an electrician set it up. To install a Skybell doorbell camera, you also need a mechanical or digital doorbell chime. Welcome to Protect America's doorbell camera installation tutorial.
The doorbell camera allows you to know who's at your front door at all times. Each alarm .com doorbell camera features a doorbell with an integrated camera, motion sensor, and a digital microphone and speaker enabling you to answer the door and speak to visitors via two-way audio. You can record event-triggered clips, set motion-triggered automation rules and receive real-time alerts from anywhere.
Before we begin mounting your doorbell we must go through the pre-install checklist. First you must have an existing wired doorbell that is working and that is wired properly. If you're not sure if you have a wired or wireless doorbell, wireless doorbells only light up when the button is pressed. If you don't have a wired doorbell, you can have an electrician set it up. You must also have either a mechanical or digital doorbell chime. Lastly, you must have an upload speed of at least 2 megabits per second. To confirm if you have either a mechanical or digital doorbell chime, press and hold the doorbell button. If the chime makes a classic "ding-dong" sound then the customer currently has a mechanical system installed. If the door chime plays a melody or you see a speaker for the chime, you have a digital doorbell. If you have a digital doorbell chime then a digital doorbell adapter is required to wire the doorbell properly.
