Golden Smog - 4/16/11 - Minneapolis, MN (complete concert)

To commemorate the postponed GOLDEN SMOG show that was supposed to be played this week as part of the kickoff for First Avenue's 50th Anniversary celebration, erstwhile Golden Smog archivist David Edgemere cobbled together this 2011 artifact from a fair-to-middling, incomplete video source combined with 2 professionally recorded audio sources, a fitting testament for a cobbled together stupergroup.

This 2011 show at the Fine Line in Minneapolis was the last night of a 2 night stand and was the last Golden Smog performance on the books save for a 2012 benefit set and a surprise, semi-stealth Smog show that took place in Minneapolis just before midnight on July 12, 2019 in an underground venue on St. Anthony Main, just a few hours after The Jayhawks - with guests Kraig Johnson & Dan Murphy - performed at the Basilica Block Party festival across the river. This off the radar performance - in a space called, appropriately, the Hall Of Kings - was to celebrate Dan Murphy's birthday found the band and the audience in high spirits. The 200 or so guests definitely got their money's worth, especially since it was a free show. The proper followup to the Fine Line show was supposed to be on 4/4/20 at First Ave but fate had other plans for the Smogsters and their many fans. With any luck #goldensmog2020 will still happen, one way or another.
