From 100’ Yacht BRAVO to a Regal 26 XO… for THREE Weeks! The Regal 26 XO Walk Through!

After most than a decade of owning and refitting boats greater than 60’ and traveling for over five years on our 100’ yacht named Bravo, we had a wild idea to build a brand new 80’ yacht while Bravo was on the market for sale. As most people know, unique expedition vessels take quite some time to find the right buyer. With Bravo, it took two years to find the perfect buyer. During that time, we started to recognize that our absolute favorite part of owning a large yacht wasn’t the long range trips of moving the boat, but it was going out on the water in our small 14’ Rigid Boats tender for full day excursions just exploring new areas. We would literally hop on the tender first thing in the morning and wouldn’t come back to Bravo until after sunset. We would stop for a bite to eat and that was it! We just loved being on the water. Anyway, we decided the days of long range boating were coming to an end for a multitude of reasons and the biggest being: we just wanted to “get back to boating!”

While we have lived on the gulf coast of Florida for more than 20 years, we have recently purchased a summer home in Baltimore, Maryland. We absolutely fell in love with this small city. The boating is exceptional with there being so many small and large towns along the various rivers flowing through the Chesapeake Bay watershed. With our vision of traveling along the Patapsco River, James River, Susquehanna River, Rappahannock River, York River and our itinerary being day trips with a few short weekend trips, we settled on buying the Regal 26 XO. We know, we know there are a lot of sizes between 100’ and 26’… but the Regal 26 XO is an ideal pocket cruiser with no other manufacturer making a cruiser under 30’. This made sense to us. Simple. Easy, back to boating… PERFECTION — so we thought.

In this episode, we show the interior and exterior of our 2023 Regal 26 XO. We point out the design elements Regal incorporated this small pocket cruiser to maximize the usable space and to accommodate two sleeping area, a galley, and head. We also go over those areas of the boat that just seemed to small for us after realizing we would be using this boat for longer overnight trips than we initially anticipated. We also didn’t realize how rough the Chesapeake Bay which made for a few uncomfortable days in the water. Truthfully, this is a great day boat! It’s a great weekender… but we just needed something a little bigger (stay tuned for episode 8 as we show our new Regal being built).
