A quick take on making your own brazed carbide cutting tools as was done before the explosion of variety of carbide inserts.
I used brass rod, I often use silver for brazing also. I am making a simple hand scraper in this video. will finish grind it in another video. Making brazed carbide cutters for the milling machines and lathes is still being done in toolrooms, but not often seen these days. For the small shop and prototype machinist it can be very handy and economical as even used carbide inserts can be recycled with great results.
