Your body is built to regulate appetite. Satiety hormones—GLP-1, PYY, CCK, amylin—rise after a real meal to slow gastric emptying and tell your brain “that’s enough.” Leptin (from fat stores) and insulin (energy-status signal) help set longer-term intake, while ghrelin pushes hunger pre-meal.

Ultra-processed foods (UPFs) hack this system by:
• Stripping the food matrix (fiber/protein/structure) → faster absorption, weaker gut-hormone release.
• Soft textures & liquids → less chewing/oro-sensory satiety; you eat faster, before signals catch up.
• Hyper-palatable formulas (sugar+fat+salt) → overrides “stop” cues, encourages passive over-eating.
• Protein dilution → plenty of calories, not enough protein → weaker GLP-1/CCK and more cravings.
• Energy density & speed → rapid spikes/crashes → rebound hunger.
• Additives/emulsifiers (emerging evidence) may disturb gut signaling/mucosa.

Fix the signal, not just the calories:
Prioritize protein + fiber, intact grains/legumes, crunchy/chewy textures, whole fruit over juice, meals over snacks, and minimize “drinkable calories.” Eat protein/fiber before fast carbs. Think: dal + veggies + roti (atta), eggs, fish, curd, nuts, millets, whole fruit.
