'Time for bed' signals

Many people believe that it is important to give your baby ‘time for bed’ signals from a very early age – like having a bedtime story or turning on a projection lamp or music. It’s helpful to teach them about bedtime by running through a ‘beddy-byes’ routine every night. It’s a Pavlov’s Dog thing; you give them a sign every night that will eventually help them to switch automatically into a bedtime pattern.

As your child gradually settles down more in the evenings, you can change up your routine bring it forward a bit earlier each night. Initially, just do the routine around the time your baby usually falls asleep at night, even if they wake for a feed a few hours later. We’ve developed our Snuggly Sensory Sleep-Time Whale to help with their routine.
