This educational virtual discussion about how the African Immigrant community is both affected by and fits into the current civil rights movement seen today. This virtual event aims to connect the African immigrant community with the modern-day Black civil rights issues. We find this highly relevant to today’s political climate, especially in light of recent protests taking place in Seattle.

This idea was conceived from Immigrant Guide’s team members' discussions with African Immigrant community members regarding BLM. Through these discussions, we realized there was a disconnect between the African Immigrant community and the African American community. This virtual event will not only serve to bridge this gap but create dialogue, understanding, and ultimately, solidarity between the two communities.
