Discing and stumping the field to plant grass

It's the 3rd week of September and temperatures are about 20 degrees above normal. We are hoping the heat wave will end soon. Ideally you would plant grass seed in Virginia when the soil temps are between 50 and 65 degrees. But the longer you wait, the more likely it is you will have a killing frost affect the grass in the first 45 days of growth, so we are taking a chance, and getting the seed into the ground. This is the part of farming that is a big gamble. You make as much of an educated guess as possible and then you go with it.
