Tonight is our special guest, Dr. Joe Ahrens. He's the former director of the Florida Department of Citrus. Dr. Ahrens is also the founder of ATM Metabolics. He's the inventor of Emulin and a two time Nobel Peace Prize nominee 2015 & 2016.

Joe, can you please tell us what Emulin is and also whatever else you think will be great for newcomers, and more that are advanced in healthcare.

Joe Ahrens:

Well, we actually started out in 2001 to determine if some fruits and vegetables have some influence on carbohydrate metabolism. That's like 16 years ago and we really didn't know what we were looking for.

But we discovered over the course of several years that they were compounds that nature intended for us humans and mammals to consume in our normal diet.

I didn't initially start out thinking about diabetes, and carbohydrate metabolism. I just simply wanted to know initially if there were fruits or vegetables that could control it.

Back in 2001, I was the director of the Florida Department of citrus, trying to promote citrus. And I thought, Hey, why don't we see if there's something really scientifically provable that citrus helps with weight loss. You know, there's always this old though that grapefruit diet helps you lose weight.

Well we did a study which was done by Scripps Institute, and we did find out that there was something in citrus that did indeed manage carbohydrates and can cause weight loss.

We further tracked it down to a family of bioflavonoids that definitely influenced carbohydrate metabolism.


Well, that was very intriguing. And I brought this discovery to the state government said, Hey, we need to really look into this and they were actually not very interested. I was quite shocked. They said we don't want to turn citrus into a medicine cabinet.

Well, because of that my current partner and myself formed a company to specifically investigate this phenomenon. What we found out was there is a class of natural compounds that are like a vitamin that everybody needs in their normal diet to manage carbohydrates.

This is quite amazing.

If you don't know what carbohydrates are, they are sugars They are starches, like potatoes, sugars like in table sugar, the white stuff and they are in all the added sugars. We found out that if you consume sugars without this new vitamin the result is constant, low-grade inflammation.

Low-grade inflammation results, for many people, unfortunately, results for many people in diabetes and obesity.

Ultimately, over your lifetime, this low-grade inflammation can result even in Alzheimer's.

So, we backed up and did several tests on the new vitamin, that we call Emulin. And we have come to the conclusion that Emulin is necessary to control inflammation in your body
