In this Haas INSIDER video, Joe Meaux, owner of Aklys Defense, shares how they machine cores for suppressors on their Haas VF-4SS vertical machining center setup for 4-axis machining with a Haas HA5C2-T single-axis rotary with two 5C collet noses. High-speed machining is employed to aggressively remove material on the 17-4 stainless steel cores, using 4 flute and 5 flute endmills from Haas Tooling. Meaux also discusses how their latest addition, a Haas ST-35Y CNC Lathe with Y-Axis and Live Tooling will enable them to machine some of their larger cores in a single setup.
