Honda CM200T Scrambler 1983 | Custommade C.A. Builds a Twinstar That Looks Like a Million Bucks

In the world of custom motorcycles, creativity and craftsmanship often breathe new life into machines that might otherwise be forgotten. One such example is the Honda CM200T Twinstar from 1983, a small-displacement classic that has now been transformed into a head-turning scrambler. The masterminds behind this project are Christos and his team at Custommade C.A., a custom shop based in Greece that has quickly made a name for itself in the motorcycle community.

The story begins with a client named Giannis, who initially intended to restore his dormant CM200T back to its factory glory. The bike had been sitting unused for more than 20 years, and its engine was in dire need of attention. But as discussions with the Custommade crew evolved, the vision shifted from restoration to full customization. What Giannis ultimately received was far more than just a revival—it was a rebirth.

The project kicked off with a comprehensive rebuild of the Honda’s engine. New pistons, valve guides, and gaskets were fitted, while the top end was treated to a sleek layer of black powder coating. The stock carburetor was retained but refurbished to perfection and paired with a high-grade aftermarket pod filter. On the exhaust side, the little Honda gained a custom stainless-steel two-into-one system that exits through a reverse megaphone muffler, giving it a sound and character that far exceed its humble origins.

Attention then shifted to the chassis. The outdated front forks were replaced with inverted WP units borrowed from a KTM 390 Duke, instantly upgrading the handling and stance. These were paired with an 18-inch spoked wheel and a braking setup that features a 320 mm rotor and a four-piston caliper. At the rear, the CM200T now rides on a 17-inch wheel, modern adjustable shocks, and an extended swingarm. Shinko Trail Master dual-purpose tires provide both traction and rugged scrambler appeal.

The subframe was also reimagined, looped to better suit the new proportions and complemented with handmade side covers. Perched atop is a gorgeous black leather seat, crafted with precision and comfort in mind, while all the bike’s electronics were neatly tucked into a custom-built box beneath. Both the front and rear ends feature custom fenders, but the true centerpiece is the new fuel tank, which completely transforms the bike’s visual identity.

In terms of rider interface, Custommade C.A. kept things minimal yet highly functional. The cockpit now hosts a multi-function Daytona Velona dial and a fresh handlebar fitted with premium Motogadget switches. Illumination comes from a 5.75-inch LED headlight up front and a taillight housed in a custom 3D-printed enclosure at the rear. LED turn signals complete the modern lighting package.

Of course, no custom project is complete without a distinctive paint scheme, and the CM200T does not disappoint. The chosen palette exudes sophistication and flair, perfectly tying together the bike’s vintage roots and its contemporary upgrades.

What makes this build so remarkable is not just the list of parts or the craftsmanship, but the balance achieved between modern performance and timeless aesthetics. The Honda CM200T, once a modest commuter bike, now looks and rides like a machine worth a million bucks. It’s a testament to the vision of Giannis, the skill of Christos, and the artistry of Custommade C.A.

This scrambler build proves that even the smallest displacement bikes can become icons when given the right amount of passion, creativity, and technical expertise. For enthusiasts worldwide, it’s yet another reminder of why custom culture remains such an exciting space: it’s where dreams, history, and modern performance converge on two wheels.
