1. Pack Properly

Make sure your items are properly packed and ready to go. Too many people are disorganized and try to pack on moving day or don’t make the best use out of there box’s waste space by not making the most of each box.

2. Move In The Middle of the Month

For many reasons most people try to move at the begging or end of the month. Whether it’s the end of a lease or a job transition, it usually falls on those days.

3. Don’t Move On Weekends

Everyone wants to move on the weekend. So if you’re trying to save money, move on a day where the mover is a little more needy of your business. Weekends usually go to the highest bidder.

4. Avoid Traffic Hour

This can save you HUNDREDS of dollars in most cases. Remember, you are still paying the movers while they sit in traffic.

5. Book In Advance

I have seen WAY too many people try to book a mover days before the big day. Sometimes if your move is small enough or you just get lucky, you can get away with it without having the price raised. Try to plan at least a month out.

6. Trim The Fat

Try to get rid of any unnecessary items. Each item you won’t need is an extra pound, minute and space for the mover to carry.

7. Mark Boxes

Have a system in place so that you’re not running around trying to tell your movers where everything goes. Try to mark boxes and room for more efficiency.

8. Don’t Pack During Moving Day

PLEASE don’t make this mistake for the sake of your own wallet! You will put a lot of money in your movers pocket and stress on yourself by doing this. As if the day needs to get any harder. Life happens so be ready by taking care of it before the movers are on the clock.
