Brinker International (NYSE:EAT) said that it expects Q3 EPS of $0.41 to $0.44, ex-items, and expects comparable restaurant sales to fall between 3.5% and 4.5% for the quarter.

The company said that a cost of $0.03 for special items consists of lease termination charges related to the company's decision to close underperforming restaurants.

Brinker International also said that earnings before special items were impacted by costs related to a new menu at Chili's, significant weather events and lower than expected tax expense. The cost associated with the rollout of the new menu lowered earnings by about $5 million before tax.
