The Johns Hopkins University Alliance for a Healthier World through its Transformative Technologies and Institutions theme is proud to sponsor this year’s newly established “Open Science to Advance Health Equity” track. Your team’s mission is to help us advance health equity through an open science “hack.’ By health equity, we mean not just the finding of disparity, but also coming up with solutions to reduce or resolve them.

Your project might build upon the following focus areas:
• Hardware: create an open science technology platform, like the folding microscope or the 3-D printed stethoscope, and enable its use to advance health equity
• Health Decisions: utilize existing data to empower consumers to make better health decisions, collectively making a community-wide or population-level difference
• Access to Information: unlock the power of journal article access in enabling patients to seek quality treatment information
