On TWiST, Jason Calacanis notes that even the largest players in the AI market — model makers like Anthropic, OpenAI, and Perplexity — might be inspired to “borrow” ideas from their smaller competitors.

The companies behind everyone’s favorite LLMs are absolutely looking at their API data, and noting the major breakout use cases for these models. That means startups relying on LLMs to power their apps are potentially giving away their secret sauce to their largest potential competitors.

As well, these mega companies are spending billions (even trillions) on compute and power. They need all the revenue they can get, increasingly the temptation to introduce new features based on their rivals’ offerings.
