Goldenrods, the Solidago species, are some of the most important fall blooming plants in eastern North America. Used by a wide range of pollinators, birds, and mammals, it is a great addition to any wildflower or pollinator planting. The wide range of species allows for choosing one which fits with the management goals, space, and desires of the gardener or habitat manager. Along with giving some information about the benefits of goldenrod, I debunk one of the most commonly heard lies about this wonderful plant.
