This comes just hours after the US Supreme Court struck down his earlier sweeping tariffs imposed under emergency powers (IEEPA), ruling he exceeded authority in a major 6-3 decision. Trump called the ruling "deeply disappointing" and lashed out at justices, then invoked Section 122 of the 1974 Trade Act—a rarely used provision—for this temporary 150-day duty to address balance-of-payments issues.
Posted on Truth Social: “It is my Great Honor to have just signed, from the Oval Office, a Global 10% Tariff on all Countries, which will be effective almost immediately.” Exemptions apply to certain foods, critical minerals, pharmaceuticals, some electronics, and goods under existing tariffs or USMCA rules.
