As temperatures dip across northern India, Dehradun Zoo has strengthened its winter preparedness to keep its animals warm and healthy. From insulated shelters and heaters to protein-rich diets, the zoo has rolled out detailed measures to protect reptiles, birds and mammals from the biting cold.

Zoo officials explain how snakes are given straw bedding, small insulated spaces and heaters, while deer and other animals receive high-energy feed to help maintain body temperature. Visitors praised the upgraded facilities, warmed enclosures, blankets, wooden structures and habitat-appropriate setups across the zoo.

Spread across 25 hectares, Dehradun Zoo is home to a variety of species, all receiving extra care this season to ensure their comfort and well-being.
