ChatGPT 4 was released a few days ago. It's a major upgrade from version 3.5. I spent a day trying it out to produce some web page copy. This is a video of a conversation between myself and Jonathon Wright.

In the conversation, we discuss the newly launched GPT-4 and its capabilities. We talk about the improvements in reasoning, speed, and consciousness compared to its predecessor, GPT-3.5.

I share my thoughts on using GPT-3.5 and how to find value in it, especially for generating code, tests, and test data. I believe that with GPT-4, the building blocks for a complete software development process are emerging. However, users must figure out how to best utilize the "box of tools" for their specific needs, as there is no manual to guide them.

We also talk about our experience using GPT-4 for generating web content. I emphasise the importance of users acting as specifiers, providing the AI with background information, goals, and keywords to produce relevant content. This approach helps in optimising web content for search rankings by incorporating keywords and links effectively.

We both agree that the process of creating copy can be largely automated using GPT-4. Whatever the output, we need to check the content and probably edit some of it.

Regarding the use of GPT-4 for writing articles, I have some reservations. While the AI can generate content based on existing information, it might not be as useful for introducing new ideas or producing original content. Consequently, I would not use GPT-4 to invent new concepts!

We talk about some of the opportunities in testing. There are definite possibility in the testing domain.
