Let's look at the 'calm, safe space' relaxation therapy technique. The video is quite long, so do use the timestamps if you want to skip to the actual exercises at the end.

I go through the relaxation therapy, explain what it is and how it's done. Then I take you through an example from myself, and then finally the relaxation therapy itself where you can watch along.

Text for doing the exercise:

'I'd like you to think about some pace you have been or imagine being somewhere that feels very calm and safe. Maybe sitting on the beach, or going on holiday, or being with a loved one at their house. What image do you see? Describe what you can see in your mind.'

'As you think of that calm, safe place, what emotions are you experiencing? What sensations do you have in your body?'

'Focus on that sensation. What can you feel? What can you hear? What can you smell? What can you see? What can you feel?'

'Now I'd like you to associated all those feelings and emotions with a single word. The word can be anything, but something that reminds you of that calm, safe space.'

'Say the word out loud, and notice how you feel'

'Now you need to practice this 3 or 4 times a day until you are happy that you can say the word and feel all those positive, safe emotions and sensations in your body'.
