Meet Kennedy Ferguson, a third-year student at Penn State.

Since she was a kid, Kennedy has always had a deep love for art, animals in the environment, and her family and friends, and these early passions and values have greatly shaped her college experience.

She’s a biology major with a minor in sociology and studio art. Additionally, she is a member of the Schreyer Honors College and an Equity Scholar within the Button Waller Fellowship, and a part of numerous clubs and activities, such as the Penn State Student Farm, Club BLUEprint, and more.

Kennedy’s Penn State experience has allowed her to wear many hats and pursue her passions at full force.

She aspires to take the lessons that she has learned to become an ecologist who collaborates with local communities of color, as well as use her portraits to document culture around the world.

Kennedy’s interdisciplinary pursuits have taken her on many roads, but all of them have led her to become a stronger leader and community member, both within Penn State's walls and beyond.

Penn State Bunton-Waller Scholars Program

The Bunton-Waller Scholars Program was established in 1994 to support Penn State’s commitment to academic excellence by providing students with access to financial and academic resources that promote student achievement. The program began with the Bunton-Waller Fellow Award and has since expanded to include additional scholarships that support students across Penn State. Over time, the program has grown with the inclusion of the Bunton-Waller Merit Award and the Bunton-Waller Scholarship Award, which provides financial assistance to students with the highest financial need. Most recently, the Bunton-Waller Commonwealth Scholars Award was introduced to further enhance academic support for high-achieving, Pell-eligible Pennsylvania residents transitioning to University Park.
