Nursing school vs the real world - What are the differences between nursing school and working as a nurse?

In this video, I outline six differences that you will notice when working as a nurse vs being a student in nursing school.

One of the differences you'll notice is the stress. Being both a nurse and nursing student can be stressful, but the stress is different. In nursing school, you mostly stress over studying, passing exams, and worrying if you'll complete assignments.

While working as a nurse, you'll be stressing over patients, knowing their life is in your hands. You'll stress about getting your tasks done on time, and more.

Another difference between nursing school and working as a nurse are the care plans. In nursing school care plans tend to be very tedious and take 4-6 hours to complete. They are very thorough because they are designed to teach you to think like a nurse.

In contrast, care plans on the nursing job are much easier to complete. They are in electronic format, and you typically click boxes on a computer. In addition, care plans change throughout the day, and you'll see the same types of patients within your specialty and will know what to expect.
