The TRUTH Project is a conceptual video project originally made for the 6month Sarai Reader Exhibition at the Devi Art Museum, curated by Raqs Media Collective. For this project I am in conversation with experts from various fields to gain insights into the concept of truth and its political ramifications.
With inputs from across disciplines we look at truth as comprising substantive properties, social consciousness, perception, historical memory and share individual ideas to gain a broader vision.
The people invited by me are, geneticist Obaid Siddiqi who is working on biochemistry of the brain and memory, linguist and musician Peggy Mohan, writer Githa Hariharan, film maker Sohail Hashmi and activist, Dunu Roy.
I had posed a set of questions for discussion which led to these recordings through our wonderful meandering conversations edited to roughly 8 mins for each persons point of view.
What is truth and do we want to or is it even possible to, uncover it? Is what we perceive as the truth, the only truth or is it a falsehood under different circumstances or from another point of view? Who is to determine what is true or false?
Will focusing on these questions help us determine our future rights?
