Why Japanese Tigers have Flat Heads: Screen Painting by Maruyama Okyo 円山応挙 | Curator's Corner S6 Ep4

You're a mother Tiger (yes, yes you are) and you have 3 cubs (yes, yes you do) that you need to get across a rapid. With childcare as a non-option, you have to try to get your 3 cubs over the river safely. Surprisingly, your biggest issue isn't the river, it's the fact that one of your cubs is particularly 'naughty' (for 'naughty' read 'will eat their siblings if left unattended'). How do you do it?

Curator Tim Clark has the answer to this Song Dynasty riddle, and will give it to you with the help of a Japanese painted screen by the Edo-period artist Maruyama Ōkyo (円山応挙).

No tiger cubs were harmed, or eaten by their siblings in the making of this video.
