The Forgotten Designs of Canberra | The Canberra Series - The Adventures of Russell

Описание к видео The Forgotten Designs of Canberra | The Canberra Series - The Adventures of Russell

The design of Canberra was the result of a highly controversial international design competition in 1911. While most of us are familiar with Walter Burley Griffin's winning plan, in this video, we explore the other three designs chosen by King O'Malley and the Departmental Board. We take a closer look at Eliel Saarinen's second-place design, which relied heavily on flattening the landscape. We also explore Alfred Agache's Parisian-inspired third-place design, with perspectives drawn as if seen from a plane. Join us as we uncover the forgotten designers of Canberra and compare the alternate designs to the current cityscape.

Would you have wanted to live in any of these cities were they built?
