The longest under-construction railway bridge in the country is now fully visible, just 300 meters away from the Bangabandhu Bridge over the Jamuna River. All the spans have been installed on the bridge, and 94% of the work has been completed. The eastern end of the bridge at Bhuyanpur in Tangail is fully completed, while work on the western end at Sirajganj is nearing completion. Additionally, the modernization work for the eastern and western stations of the bridge is also in the final stages.
Project Implementation Officer (PD) Al Fattah Md. Masudur Rahman stated that 94% of the work on the railway bridge has already been completed, and there has been no increase in construction costs. He expressed hope that the bridge would be inaugurated in December of this year, with work continuing around the clock to achieve this goal.
According to project sources, the bridge is being constructed to accommodate high-speed trains along with regular trains. As a result, trains will be able to run at a maximum speed of 250 km/h on the bridge. However, in the first year after its inauguration, trains are expected to operate at speeds between 100 and 120 km/h.
The Jamuna Railway Bridge is a railway bridge in Bangladesh that connects Sirajganj district with Bhuyanpur upazila in Tangail district. Located 300 meters north of the Bangabandhu Bridge over the Jamuna River, the construction of this separate railway bridge is ongoing. Once completed, it will be the second-largest railway bridge in Bangladesh.
