WSNS Channel 44 - NHL Hockey - Blackhawks Vs. Flyers (Opening, 1978)

Описание к видео WSNS Channel 44 - NHL Hockey - Blackhawks Vs. Flyers (Opening, 1978)

Here's something pretty rare - the oldest TV-44 material yet found! The opening for an NHL Hockey matchup between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Philidelphia Flyers.

It starts out during a pre-show commercial break (some interference for the first couple minutes). Includes:

Roper Pilotless gas ranges (Available at Goldblatt Bros. "Home Centers") (only half of the commercial intact)

Gene Wulbert Ford - Home of the Van King - 820 West Madison Street in Oak Park

WSNS-TV 44 Chicago "Hockey" slide with introduction voiceover by Mal Wyman.

Opening sequence and sponsorship slides for Chicago Blackhawks hockey (music is "Are You Man Enough?" by The Four Tops) (opening voiceover by Mal Wyman - sounding a bit different)

Andy McWilliams (sp?) introduces himself for play-by-play that night at the Spectrum.

Commercial: American Airlines - "Doing what we do best."

Commercial: Budweiser - "Monument Valley" (voiceover by Ed McMahon)

Andy McWilliams introduces Lou Angotti, (love those TV-44 blazers!) his co-host, and talks some pre-game stuff.

Commercial: Boom-Boom Geoffrion for Cooper hockey masks.

Commercial: Canon AE-1 with some golf pros

Audio problem during the National Anthem and first minute or so of game.

This aired on local Chicago TV on Thursday, November 16th 1978.

About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:

The Museum of Classic Chicago Television's primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s and early 80s, primarily) recorded off of any and all Chicago TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical purposes. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to DVD, and to view more of the 4,500+ (and counting) video clips available for viewing in our online archive, please visit us at:
