Altès Etude No. 26 - April Clayton, flute

This is the LAST Altès Etude in the book! If you've been following along, congratulations! We made it!!

Regarding the tiny duet portions of this etude: originally the entire study was written as a duet. This is the case with ALL of the Altès etudes. However, in the Selected Studies version of these etudes, the duet parts were only included when it was felt they were crucial for the etude to work properly. That's why an extra one-of-me appears, but only for little bits and pieces at the very beginning. The "Recitativo" idea at the beginning really could not work without both parts.

Altès etudes are in the public domain! You can get them online for free. Here is a link to the Altès complete method. There are good reasons to look at this version rather than the 26 Selected Studies, although each published version has advantages and disadvantages.

If the link doesn't work, search for IMSLP and "Altès Complete Method" and you will see it. You can also find the Altès 26 Selected Studies for free in this way. The Selected Studies is a little more compact edition, and it's what I carry around with me for ease.
