1. Can you confirm the report that the new Chinese ambassador to North Korea has arrived in the country?

As agreed by China and the DPRK, the new ambassador of China to the DPRK Wang Yajun arrived in the DPRK on Mar 27 to assume the post. China and the DPRK are close neighbours sharing mountains and rivers. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, our bilateral relations have entered a new historical era and proceeded towards further development. We believe that the ambassador will play an important role in the development of traditional friendship and cooperative relations between China and the DPRK.”

2. At the invitation of State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang, Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir, will visit China on March 28-29. Can you introduce the arrangements for the visit?

This is Foreign Minister Zambry’s first visit to China in his term. State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang will hold talks with him, focusing on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern, and prepare for the upcoming important meeting between the leaders of the two countries.

3. According to a recently released study, China spent $240 billion between 2008 and 2021 to assist 22 developing countries. However, as aid has risen in recent years, many countries have struggled to repay loans under BRI mechanism. What is China's response to this?

China has always carried out investment and financing cooperation with developing countries on the basis of the principle of openness and transparency. China acts in accordance with market laws and international rules, respects the wishes of relevant countries, and never forces any party to apply for a loan or to repay a debt. Our loan agreements have no political strings attached, nor do we seek any political self-interest.

4. Some Japanese lawmakers planning to urge the government to ban social media such as TikTok from being used for disinformation campaigns. Any comment?

We oppose the relevant country overstretching the concept of national security. All countries should provide a fair, just and non-discriminatory business environment for foreign companies to conduct normal investment and operation in their countries.

5. Taiwan officials announced today that Fiji has renamed Taiwan’s representative office and the Trade Mission of the Republic of China, Taiwan, upgrading from the previous name of Taipei Trade Office. Any comment?

There is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory. The government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legal government that represents the whole of China. This is a widely recognized consensus by the international community and the basic norm governing international relations. We are against all attempts to create “two Chinas” or “one China, one Taiwan,” and such an attempt will by no means succeed.

6. The Governor of Victoria, Australia, will visit China for a trade talk. Do you have any comment?


7. Kevin Rudd, former Australian Prime Minister and new Australian Ambassador to the United States, said that cooperation between the United States and China to fight cancer may be a new ping-pong diplomacy that can bring some positive effects to bilateral relations. Do you agree with such an offer?
