The time was travel was during a winter weekend in December 2021. We do not encourage or discourage travel during the Covid situation. All you have to follow Govt regulations and safety measures.
We reached Tatanagar station from Howrah by Janashatabdi Exp in the morning. From station we booked an auto to reach Hill View Resort, Asanbani, on Tata-Ranchi Highway. The distance is 16km. The resort is located at Dalma foothill, surrounded by mountains. The stay was quite comfortable. In the afternoon we visited Dimna Lake, which is around 9 km from the resort. Surrounded by Dalma Hills, Dimna is a beautiful spot, 15 km away from Tatanagar.
Next day we took a cab booked from the resort to visit Dalma hilltop and Sanctuary. The entry ticket for Dalma wildlife sanctuary is Rs 30 per person and camera charge is Rs 40. On entering the forest we could see indian Elephants on the red soiled road. However, these are of Forest Dept, and not exactly the wild ones. The journey on the hilly forest road upto the hilltop is quite thrilling. Dalma hilltop has an altitude of around 3000ft. There is a temple of Bajrangbali on the topmost point. When we reached there, it was slightly raining along with cold winds. The view of the hill ranges and forests from Dalma hilltop is awesome.
Near the entry gate of the Sanctuary there is a Conservation Centre cum Deer Park, where we could see Spotted Deer and Sambars in numbers.
After lunch we took reached Tatanagar station to catch the Howrah bound train in the afternoon.
