Right. So. I guess I’m back from yet another hiatus. I’ve spent August pretty much playing BG3 and then September just… barely coping because my cat got seriously sick and that’s been one of the worst months of my life, I’ve written about it on tumblr and don’t wanna relive it here, so moving on.

Gale of Waterdeep! Gale Dekarios! I’ve played BG3 five times during early access, and I honestly never expected to love his character this much upon release. I thought I’d be all over Astarion since he’s an elf and a vampire and I usually love both, so it seemed like a no-brainer. But then Astarion annoyed me SO. MUCH. when I romanced him in the release version OH. MY. GOD. During EA, I always compared him to Fenris from DA but better, but no, he’s all the things that annoyed me in Fenris but multiplied lmao. I got back to loving Astarion upon not romancing him, though… And I’m in the middle of making a Shadowheart/Astarion vid, but idk I just kinda lost the initial excitement I had when it comes to him?

Gale on the other hand? I love him so much. I relate to him so much, and to the shitty things that happened to him. Consequently, I hate Mystra with such a burning passion, like I kid you not I genuinely started editing this song because of ‘There was never wrong 'til there was right’ and ‘Drown out the voices in the air / Leaving the ones that never cared’ lines. I needed to get my frustrations about Mystra out. Also the whole him not actually loving himself and not believing someone could love him for him thing? So relatable as well. And then I got to his scene in act 2 and his home in Waterdeep looks so much like what Shadowheart was describing as her dream life. Shadowheart is obviously my other favorite character, so they eventually just clicked for me and I’ll go down with this ship. Think how good and healthy and wholesome they’d be together.

Anyway, that’s why there’s a lot of Gale/Shadowheart in here, in my head they’re literally the best fit as far as companion ships go. They just deserve a peaceful life with a bunch of animals and no emotional swings from their partners. Basically the reason I’m working on a Shadowheart/Astarion vid next is because if I make a Gale/Shadowheart one less than perfect I won’t forgive myself. xD That and because I’ve spent two playthroughs recording everything with Astarion because I was 100% sure that’d be what I’ll want to make most.

Oh also can I just add that it's sad that you only REALLY really see Tara if you play Gale origin? Like damn. She's one piece of content I wish more people would see... Their friendship with Gale is so precious and she adds so much to his character.

ALSO ALSO I cannot believe it's been years since I used Imagine Dragons in a vid. Sure, their songs are overused, but for good reason, and I just love vidding them.
