You can start giving to your baby sips of breast milk/ formula / water from an open cup (held by an adult) at 6 months of age.

With practice, babies will slowly hold on to the cup, have good lip closure on the rim, tilt the liquid gently and learn to spill less.

With enough practice, by 16 to 18 months most toddlers possess the motor coordination to drink from an open cup.

My advice: Don’t over stress about this, just make it fun!!

✅ Clear cups help them to see how much water they have.
✅ It will be lots of spill water, so only serve a little amount at the time.
✅It’s important that they learn how to drink holding the cup with both hands, so model that for them!
✅ Only do this when you have time, maybe at night, before baths, or on the weekends!!
