Jeff de Boer discusses "Village Idiots & Innovation" at TEDxYYC 2012.

Jeff de Boer is a Calgary-based multi-media artist and instructor with an international reputation for producing some of the world's most original and well-crafted works of art. With an emphasis on metal, he is best known for such bodies of work suits of armour for cats and mice, rocket lamps and pop culture ray guns, and exquisite high art, abstract works called exoforms.

Jeff created the barbed-wire horse in the Glenbow Museum, was artist-in-residence for the new Alberta Children's Hospital and is embarking on new projects that merge technology with aesthetics in new ways that encourage meaningful human-technology interaction that he anticipates will change how technology is developed. He has taught, lectured and exhibited around the world.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
