Okochi Sanso Garden - World's Best Gardens by Ian Wilson Landscape Designer

In this new garden series, we explore and discuss some of the World's Best Gardens. Okochi Sanso Gardens are a five-acre garden created by the actor Okochi Denjiro (1898 -1962 ). They are located in Kyoto by the Katsura River and are a perfect place to experience a tea ceremony garden. The garden has been designed on Zen Buddhist principles and is an ideal garden to get an appreciation of this style of garden. The garden with stepping stones and borrowed scenery allows the visitor to unwind and get in touch with nature and as an added bonus these gardens offer a cup of green tea as part of the entrance fee.
