Our final full day onboard Icon of the Seas brought us to Royal Caribbean’s private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay, and this stop shows exactly why sailing with Royal Caribbean can feel very different from a typical cruise itinerary.

Instead of arriving at a port where everything costs extra, CocoCay is designed to be a true extension of the ship — meaning many of the things you already paid for continue to work the moment you step off.

🏝️ A Little History of CocoCay

CocoCay is located in the Berry Islands of The Bahamas and has been used by Royal Caribbean for decades. It began as a simple beach stop and was later transformed through a massive modernization project into what is now called “Perfect Day at CocoCay,” a fully developed private destination with pools, beaches, dining venues, and upgraded infrastructure built specifically for cruise guests.

Today, it’s not just a stop — it’s a curated experience designed around convenience, relaxation, and included amenities.

✔️ What’s Included on CocoCay (And Why It Matters)

One of the biggest advantages of CocoCay is how seamlessly your onboard purchases carry over to the island:

Drink packages purchased on the ship work exactly the same on the island.

Internet packages continue to function, so you stay connected without buying additional Wi-Fi.

🌊 Our Day at Oasis Lagoon

We originally planned to go to South Beach, but after arriving at Oasis Lagoon, we found the perfect spot and stayed there the entire day.

Oasis Lagoon is often described as the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean and serves as the social heart of CocoCay. With its massive size, swim-up bar, and huge amount of seating, it’s easy to spend hours there without feeling crowded.

🦎 Unexpected Guest Appearance

During the afternoon, an iguana wandered over and hung out with us for a while. Naturally, we named him Alejandro. He clearly knew how to enjoy CocoCay just as much as we did.

We made it a point to try several of the complimentary food spots, which is another standout feature here. Having so many included dining options available without needing reservations or upcharges makes the day feel easy and flexible.

⚓ Why CocoCay Stands Out
