Initial D Arcade Stage Version 3

After the Sega logos appear, the game opens with the standard safety message. Later, it cuts to Takumi's AE86 going out for a drive before later cutting to the different main vehicles from the series. It then shifts to the battle between Takumi and Keisuke, with Takumi overtaking Keisuke. Then, it shifts to Takumi's battle with Takeshi Nakazato. During the battles, the major teams from the series are shown, including manga pictures to show the feeling of the characters. It later cuts to Takumi's battle with Ryosuke Takahashi, with Takumi overtaking Ryosuke in the last corner. It then finally shows the sequence of Takumi's impromptu race against Bunta in the Impreza, with the latter defeating him.

This game has three modes to play:

Legend of the Streets

In the main story mode, players race against different opponents from the series across several courses. Opponents increase in difficulty as the player progresses throughout the game. In the English versions of the games their names are the same as in the Tokyopop manga, with character who didn't receive a nickname being given one. This is likely due to name length limits, as the players name can only be 6 characters.

Time Attack

Players attempt to set a fastest time on a course of their choosing.

Bunta Challenge

The player races against Bunta Fujiwara. Each time Bunta is defeated through each course gives the player a level and difficulty increases. Starting with Arcade Stage Ver. 3, the player loses 1000 points upon defeat. Regardless of the result, the ending will still roll if you win or lose to Bunta.

The Lan Evo Team's home course is one of the new courses such as Akina Snow (only night), Shomaru, which was initially an exclusive for Special Stage and Tsuchisaka, Also, new opponents in the game are Tohru Suetsugu, Atsuro Kawai, Miki, and the Tsucisaka Lan Evo team. New cars featured in the game are the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V, Lancer Evolution VI T.M. Edition, Mazda RX-8, and the Nissan Skyline 25GT-T. The game features original Eurobeat songs from artists including Matt Land, Powerful T., Ace Warrior, and Marco Polo.
