Karnataka HC Row: Supreme Court Takes Cognisance Of Karnataka HC Judge's Controversial Remarks


Human rights body People’s Union for Civil Liberties and the All India Lawyers Association for Justice on Friday issued a joint statement against controversial remarks made by Justice V Srishananda of the Karnataka High Court. The first remark following a discussion on road safety referred to a particular locality in Bengaluru as being “in Pakistan” in proceedings on August 28. The second remark, which senior advocate Indira Jaising had drawn attention to on social media, came after a woman lawyer had answered a question seemingly out of turn, after which the judge had asked if she would know the colour of the undergarments of a person referred to in the video, as she appeared to know everything.
