Build Your Own SuperDuperFly Fly Cutter

I liked the Tormach SuperFly, but I wanted a larger diameter fly cutter, so I built the SuperDuperFly. Here's how I built it.

First, I bought a 5" fly cutting bar for approximately $120 delivered from Suburban Tool.

Then I bought some 3" diameter round 12L14 steel from Speedy Metals.

I then spent the better part of a day machining with my manual milling machine and manual lathe, just prior to converting them to CNC.

One of the featured tools I mentioned was the very nice US made carbide insert boring bar from Mesa Tool.

Despite some frustrating needless difficulties on the video side, this was a fun and very useful project.
