So I am prepping for my upcoming trip and testing out different antenna configurations. I realize that there might not be much of trees to throw an antenna up to so, let’s try a vertical (yuck!). I like wire antennas but I must adapt and overcome. I figure try the Chameleon TDL without the D or L. One 17’ vertical on the spike with a 16ish foot radial. Works great!!!! Today I’m using my IC-705. I also tried this with the Gabil tripod and it works just as good. This gives me options for rocky or hard ground where I cannot use the spike. I will use this as my backup to wire antennas, perhaps get in some SOTA too🤔
