Cherokee Nation citizen Lacinda Harris-Gillham and her business partner Darlene Martin own and operate John’s Specialty Jeans, a small sewing business where they make specialty jeans for people with disabilities who have to utilize a wheelchair.
“We make the jeans for people in wheelchairs, and we sell all over the United States. That’s the main thing,” Harris-Gillham said. “We do have special requests for things added to their jeans, and every jean we make does not fit every body. Every jean we make is special for that one somebody.”
Harris-Gillham said those who have to use a wheelchair cannot wear regular, everyday jeans and that there are certain alterations that must be made to accommodate each person.
