NKP Mikado Soundpack Promo

the Nickel Plate Road H-6 is a Mikado type steam locomotive. Some built by Lima and others by Baldwin but in all there were 102 Mikados built for the NKP and only 3 remain today.

639 sits on static display in Miller Park in Bloomington, Illinois

624 is undergoing a cosmetic restoration by the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society in Fort Wayne, Indiana

587 was placed on display in Broad Ripple Park in Indianapolis. In 1983, 587 was acquired by the Indiana Transportation Museum and turned her first wheel after a full overhaul in 1988. Over the next 15 years, the 587 would pull several steam excursions on and off the mainline with the highlights being apart of the 1989 NRHS Convention with N&W 611 & 1218, and a double header with NKP 765 in 1993. In 2003, her flue time expired and has not seen steam ever since. As of writing, she is undergoing a restoration by Kentucky Steam in Ravenna, Kentucky.
