Will Travis speaks about their Dexter cattle at the Spence Farm on June 23, 2023, near Fairbury, Illinois.

They choose the Dexter Cattle for beef and for nutrient cycling in their pastures. They run about 1 head per half acre, a bit more dense than prescribed, due to the smaller nature of the cattle, and the work they've put into their pastures. They seeded the cattle pastures 12 years ago, and rotate the cattle between three paddocks every day or so. They also have a single bull they keep in a field with a companion, and noted the companions has kept the bull much more docile.

They also have around 100 chickens for eggs, and a few hogs.

In the video, you will meet Surprise, their 17-year-old. Will noted they keep her around to keep the newer stock in line. "She's just amazing," Marty Travis said.
