My first experience with Santa Fe warbonnets occurred on January 27, 1996 in Chillicothe, IL. On this day the weather was clear but bitterly cold. Temperatures were in the single digits with wind chills well below zero. That didn't deter this avid fan from capturing hotshots on their trip along Santa Fe's transcon (yes it was BNSF by then but it sure didn't look that way). The video was shot near the Amtrak depot in Chillicothe as well as the Blue Ridge Rd grade crossing west of town near Houlihan's curve. A Southern Pacific trackage rights train as well as Amtrak's eastbound Southwest Chief both make an appearance. The Chief's days were numbered at Chillicothe by this time as its final run on the east end of the Chilli Sub occurred the following year.
