Video Drop No.304

So here I am again.... surprised, but not really... I had presumed that this Black Rose pinball machine of ours had been already upgraded with a NVRAM or CR2032 lithium battery upgrade, but no.. the old alkaline "CPU death batteries" were still mounted on the CPU.
Luckily, the alkaline damage was only limited to the battery pack.

Here's my $2 (actually less than two bucks) mod to escape future alkaline time bombs on your pinball PCBs.

Not mentioned in my video:
- I used recycled pinball wire to make the ground connection for the coin cell battery holder.
- A small amount of wire shrink tube was used on the negative wire connection to the battery holder.
- I used hot glue to mount the battery holder in addition to the positive wire solder connection.
- The clipped leads from the original alkaline battery pack were desoldered and cleaned up from the CPU.

... also, just after this lithium battery backup mod was completed I attempted to play a test game…. Well, the left flipper decided it was taking the night off. Nope. No way!
t was an easy repair remedy as it was just dirty optos at the flipper button and now it's GAME ON.

Keeping backup memory alive and robust flipper strength!

Cheers, Steveo
